"There is no beauty without some STRANGENESS" -Edgar Allan Poe Alice in wonderland self acceptance

Perhaps it is because I went on a “Alice in Wonderland” binge today, but this quote just was begging to be shared. Think about it how many quirky things do you do. I personally talk to my cat by imitating him  or just talking to him like he could  understand. Oh but thats just one of the things I do. I bet even you have a little list.

"There is no beauty without some STRANGENESS" -Edgar Allan Poe Alice in wonderland self acceptance

These little things are part of us. They give us the unique beauty that only we have. They make us stand out from a crowd when someone gets to know us. Like how you have a large collection of steamy romance novels  or a large collection of zombie movies. They help create who we are, no matter how strange.
So embrace it and never let it go, be yourself!

We walk through it everyday and dismiss it, just because it has become routine. When you take the time to actually take in the “riches” of nature you will find it easier to think. Over the years I have made the effort to take in each season as it sets in. It is something I have learned from studying Chado ( Japanese Tea Ceremony).

The very act of “bringing nature” into the tea room makes the ceremony itself a work of art. Every aspect is thought of in advance while looking at nature. Its no wonder that the impressionists looked to Japan for inspiration for their style. When you look at any of Monet’s works you can almost feel the wind on your face and hear the water as it flows through the park.

Why are these two art forms so profound? It is because they take the time to take in their surroundings. Next time you look out the window, go out for a walk or get out of the car. Look around you. Breath in and take in the seasons as they happen. Let them clear your mind so that it can inspire something new for you.

Take Time to sit and think quotable life lessons lorraine hansberry

Very often with the holidays slowly creeping up on us we forget to take time out to just sit. Taking just even a simple moment will change your day for the good. So with Thanksgiving creeping up on us here in Canada, take the moment to just sit and think about yourself.

While this sounds selfish, it is not. When we take time to do something for ourselves out of our busy day, we further ourselves. Perhaps you wanted to enroll in a course to further yourself or finally tell someone your feelings. This moment will allow you to follow through.

This moment can also help you recall things that need to be done for the holidays even. How many times over my life have I forgotten to add something to the shopping list? Too many to count, this moment would allow the mind to become calm and you will gain focus for what is to be next.

If you really need a true moment just for you then try to meditate or take time to brew a cup of tea. Such simple acts will lift your mood and help you focus.

There is sadly always a moment in our lives where we realize somone was not as sincere as ourselves.  These people, concisously or not, decive us and use us for their own gain.  It hurts our very core to find out the truth.
In todays quotable from Buddha, he teaches us how hurtful these types of people can be. Indirectly he is warning us to be weary of them so that our sincerity is protected from them.

buddah insensere and evil friend wound your mind zen dao china truth tea

About a month ago I was informed of a few things in the past, that a friend had done. Lies and deceitful words were spoken but the truth was not told by them. A true friend would be upfront and share it with you, even if it hurt. They would offer a shoulder to cry on and open their arms up for a large hug.

The lesson for today is to hold on to your sincerity and be weary of the “wolf” in sheeps clothing. Hold on to your truth because you know who you are, so bee true to you!

Every now and then we need a little pick-me-up mid week. This weeks quote came to me in a Julep Maven box, it was a nice little addition to the box itself. Madonna is a great inspiration to all and more so women.  This quote only makes her a stronger inspiration

Self-esteem something that we all gain and struggle with as we get older. When I was a child I hated my red hair, pale skin and even my eyes. Over time I learned how unique I am which boosted my own self-esteem.

This self-love is what I try to inspire in others. Faith in ones own truth , love of ones body and trust in ones own judgement. They are all important to our very being. When we begin to go against them it hurts us inside and out , on many levels.

Take a moment today and look at yourself in the mirror, tell yourself you are beautiful. Stay there for a full 1-3 minutes. Do this every day. See the changes that happen. If any negative talk pops up in your head use this line to combat it : ” I choose love over this” from the wonderful Gabrielle Bernstein.

Another little activity you can do, is create a list of all the things you have done over your life. Small to big, it does not matter. I even encourage you to list out achievements such as first apartment, going to a new place, creating a blog etc. There is bound to be a long list, but if you are having trouble talk to friends and family. They will tell you things that ,perhaps, you did not think of.

Remember you are beautiful and your own work of art. Keep working on it because your masterpiece is not yet near completion.
